About this template

This plain-looking newsletter is for writers who let the words do the work: money columnists, market analysts, finance media and paid newsletters. Ink black on paper white with monospace headings reads like a printed brief.

The masthead shows the title and issue date. A short intro says how many items are inside. Then come five numbered items, each with a short heading and two or three sentences, split by thin rules so the eye can jump from one to the next. A short note from the editor breaks up the text near the end, and a plain button leads to the archive.

No images means it loads fast. Keep each item under 60 words and lead with the number that matters. Send it at the same hour every week; regular timing builds the habit.

Use it in your email tool

  1. Click Copy HTML, or download the .html file.
  2. In Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot or Klaviyo, start a new email with the custom HTML or code editor and paste it in.
  3. Change the text, links and images. Map merge tags such as {{first_name}} and {{unsubscribe_url}} to the tags of your tool.
  4. Send a test to yourself on desktop and phone before you send it to your list.
