About this template

A referral request for software and service companies that do not want a loud refer-a-friend campaign. It looks like a personal note from someone at the company, and the code box is the only design in it.

A small text wordmark sits at the top. One paragraph makes the ask: if a colleague could use the tool, pass this code along, and you both get a free month. A dashed box holds the code in a typewriter font, so it is easy to spot and copy. A small line of terms says how it works, and the sender signs by name and role.

Send it after a customer has had a good stretch with your product, not on day one. Give every customer their own code so you can credit the right person.

Use it in your email tool

  1. Click Copy HTML, or download the .html file.
  2. In Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot or Klaviyo, start a new email with the custom HTML or code editor and paste it in.
  3. Change the text, links and images. Map merge tags such as {{first_name}} and {{unsubscribe_url}} to the tags of your tool.
  4. Send a test to yourself on desktop and phone before you send it to your list.
