About this template

Three days before a free trial ends is a good time to remind people what they would lose. This email for Formcraft, a sample form builder, opens with a bright calendar showing the number 3, so the message lands before anyone reads a word.

The heading confirms the date. Three stat columns show what the user built during the trial: forms, responses and teammates. A yellow coupon gives 20 percent off the first year, and the upgrade button follows. A short paragraph lists the other choices, such as asking for more time or exporting data.

Pull the stats from the real account. Real numbers work far better than generic praise. Set the coupon to expire with the trial and say the end date in the preheader.

Use it in your email tool

  1. Click Copy HTML, or download the .html file.
  2. In Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot or Klaviyo, start a new email with the custom HTML or code editor and paste it in.
  3. Change the text, links and images. Map merge tags such as {{first_name}} and {{unsubscribe_url}} to the tags of your tool.
  4. Send a test to yourself on desktop and phone before you send it to your list.
