About this template

Online shops can send this when a parcel will arrive late. It owns the problem in the first line and puts the new date where nobody can miss it.

The email starts with plain text, not a banner: a heading that says sorry and two lines that explain what went wrong. A navy panel shows the new delivery date in big type. A small lilac picture of a parcel and a calendar sits under it. A sorry code gives something back, and a help button leads to support. The customer care lead signs at the end.

Send it as soon as you know about the delay, before the customer has to ask. Say the real reason in one sentence. Do not bury the new date under a sale; keep any offer below it.

Use it in your email tool

  1. Click Copy HTML, or download the .html file.
  2. In Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot or Klaviyo, start a new email with the custom HTML or code editor and paste it in.
  3. Change the text, links and images. Map merge tags such as {{first_name}} and {{unsubscribe_url}} to the tags of your tool.
  4. Send a test to yourself on desktop and phone before you send it to your list.
