About back in stock emails

Back in stock emails tell a shopper that something they wanted can now be bought. Restocks, price drops, waitlist openings and low stock notes all belong here. The reader has already shown interest, so the email can be short and get right to the point.

The templates on this page show the item first, with its name and price, and one button that goes straight to the product page. Some let the reader pick a size with a tap. Others show the old price and the new one side by side, or hold a code for people who reached the top of a waitlist.

Send these soon after the change, because stock may not last. Mail only the people who asked to hear about this item, or who saved it, and make sure your site shows the same price and stock as the email.

Stay honest. Say low stock only when it is true. Show an old price only if you really charged it. Fake urgency can cost you trust, and in many places it breaks consumer rules. All products, prices and codes in these templates are samples, so replace them with your own.

Questions

When should I send a back in stock email?

As soon as the item is available again. If stock is small, send to the people who asked first, so they have a fair chance.

Who should get a price drop email?

People who saved or viewed the item and agreed to hear from you. Check that your signup wording covers this kind of email.

How should a waitlist email work?

Tell people their turn has come, say how long the offer or code holds, and link straight to the page where they can claim it.

Can I say an item is almost gone?

Only when it is true. Link the wording to your real stock level where your tool allows it.
