About this template

A re-permission email for a newsletter or blog that wants to keep only readers who still open its issues. It is short on purpose: a heavy condensed wordmark, one centered headline, three small paragraphs and two clear answers.

The yes answer is a solid blue button and the no answer is an outline button right under it, so nobody has to hunt for the way out. A plain sign-off from the team and a grey footer close the email.

Use it before you clean a list, after a long pause in sending, or when you move to a new sending address. Keep the tone friendly and say what the reader gets if they stay: here, one issue a week with notes on writing, design and the tools behind them.

The layout comes from a classic minimal designer template with lots of white space and a single accent color. Swap the wordmark, the accent and the two button links, and it fits any media brand.

Use it in your email tool

  1. Click Copy HTML, or download the .html file.
  2. In Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot or Klaviyo, start a new email with the custom HTML or code editor and paste it in.
  3. Change the text, links and images. Map merge tags such as {{first_name}} and {{unsubscribe_url}} to the tags of your tool.
  4. Send a test to yourself on desktop and phone before you send it to your list.
