About this template

A release email for a software team that ships often and wants each update to feel like news. It suits project tools, editors, design apps and any product with a public changelog.

The header is a small wordmark with the version number on the right in the accent color. A purple label says what this is, and a bold two line headline names the main features. One short paragraph explains the release, then a large photo of someone at work gives the email a human feel.

Three cards follow side by side, each with a small colored icon, a feature name and a few lines on what it does. A purple button opens the full changelog. A short list under a small label covers the smaller fixes, and a black band at the end teases what ships next month with a link to the roadmap.

The structure follows a modern designer launch template. Name features the way your users talk about them, keep each card to two sentences, and only tease what you are sure will ship.

Use it in your email tool

  1. Click Copy HTML, or download the .html file.
  2. In Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot or Klaviyo, start a new email with the custom HTML or code editor and paste it in.
  3. Change the text, links and images. Map merge tags such as {{first_name}} and {{unsubscribe_url}} to the tags of your tool.
  4. Send a test to yourself on desktop and phone before you send it to your list.
