About this template

An editor or publisher writes to another company about making something together. The top has only the sender’s name and one small line that states the idea, the way a subject line would.

The ask takes one paragraph. Three short bullets then give the reasons, each from the reader’s side: what they gain, what work they would do and who keeps what. The sign off carries a simple question and a real name, with no button to click, since a reply is the goal.

Mail only people you may legally contact. Keep the footer with your address and the unsubscribe link, and look up one true detail about the reader before you send it.

Use it in your email tool

  1. Click Copy HTML, or download the .html file.
  2. In Mailchimp, Brevo, HubSpot or Klaviyo, start a new email with the custom HTML or code editor and paste it in.
  3. Change the text, links and images. Map merge tags such as {{first_name}} and {{unsubscribe_url}} to the tags of your tool.
  4. Send a test to yourself on desktop and phone before you send it to your list.
